Health Premiums Up 5% in 2008

Job-based family premiums rose to an average of $12, 680 per year, according to a new study by the Kaiser Family Foundation and Health Research Education Trust. The jump represents a 5% increase for workers this year, and more than double of what they paid nine years ago. Premiums are once again outpacing wages. Small business employees have been hit especially hard–their premiums have increased by 21%.
