Webinar: Fair Indigent Care Funding
2019 Jan 11 - 12:00pm-1:00pm
Please join our coalition of consumer and labor advocates to learn what you can do to make sure that true safety net hospitals and patients receive their fair share of Indigent Care Pool funding. Cosponsors include Commission on the Public’s Health System, Community Service Society of New York, Empire Justice Center, Health Care For All New York, Medicaid Matters New York, New York Immigration Coalition, and the New York State Nurses Association.
In 2018, the New York State Department of Health convened a workgroup to reexamine the issue of how hospital Indigent Care Pool (also called charity care) dollars are allocated. Join a coalition of consumer, labor and safety net hospital advocates to learn about a proposal that would correct the way the funding is allocated, sending the money to hospitals that actually provide services to people on Medicaid and people who are uninsured. The webinar will describe the issue, the proposals and the action steps to take.
