DACA Take Action-12.18.12

On June 15, 2012 President Obama announced the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, potentially changing the lives over one million young immigrants. These are the young people that would have benefited from the DREAM Act. So far, with over 350,000 individuals having applied for DACA, the program has been a huge success.

As you may know, DACA grantees were unnecessarily excluded from being eligible for Affordable Care Act (ACA) and other affordable health care options. DACA grantees deserve the respect and equal treatment they have been fighting for, including not living in fear of falling ill because they lack health insurance. Join the National Immigration Law Center and partners in urging the President to make affordable health care available to those in the DACA program.

Back in October, HCFANY submitted comments to CMS regarding changes to the definition of “lawfully present” in a section of the ACA. Read what HCFANY had to say here.

Call President Obama TODAY and tell him that it’s wrong to deny affordable health care to DACA granteesCall the White House at 202-456-1111 or 202-456-1414. Click here to find out what you can say.

Then get the word out to your friends! Tweet using the hashtag #healthyDREAM and share this link — http://bit.ly/TXFrm9 — to get your friends to ask the president to put ACA back in DACA.
