A new Kaiser Family Foundation Report “Turning to Medicaid and SCHIP in an Economic Recession: Conversations with Recent Applicants and Enrollees,” highlights the emotional and financial struggles of families due to the recent economic abyss. The loss of steady employment has caused familes to lose health insurance and suffer financial hardship. These families are turning to their state’s Medicaid and State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) for the first time.
This report echoes New Yorkers stories, which can be viewed here in HCFANY’s Latest Publication: New Yorkers Speak Out for Health Reform and in this website’s Voices of the Uninsured page.
