Chaos abounds in Albany as the Senate has just flipped to a Republican majority. Pedro Espada Jr. of the Bronx and Hiram Monserrate of Queens — moved to caucus with the Republican side, which would end Democratic control of the chamber.

However, Senator Malcolm Smith just released a statement stating that today’s takeover was “illegal.” And Senator Monserrate released a statement that he is a life-long Democrat.
