New York should not spend precious resources rewarding hospitals that do not care for low-income New Yorkers. This flyer describes action the Senate and Assembly should take in the 2020 budget.
New York’s Legislature needs to fix the inequities in hospital funding by ending the indigent care pool transition collar and adopting legislation to allocate disproportionate share hospital and indigent care pool funds to true safety net hospitals and the patients they serve. HCFANY endorses this proposal, which was developed by NYC Health & Hospitals.
