Women and Medical Debt in New York

Medical debt is a big problem in New York. In 2021, HCFANY held focus groups to find out more about how this issue affects different people across the state. This issue brief describes what participants in the focus group for women had to say about medical billing. The women described problems with surprise billing and the lack of pricing transparency as contributors to medical debt.
