Share a Story of Health Care in New York!

Stories of real New Yorkers are critical to HCFANY’s advocacy efforts. They bring our policy goals to life for policymakers and the media. This form is for organizations/agencies to share health care stories from their clients and members, with permission from the individual whose story is being shared. HCFANY may follow up for additional information. Please enter all available information in the fields below. Attach a permission form from your client and photos if you can. Please make sure to provide contact information for follow up. We are particularly seeking stories related to our advocacy priorities:

  1. Basic Health Program: The Basic Health Program would cover New York adults making between 133 and 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Level and lawfully present immigrants up to 200% of FPL. Have a story of someone in this income level that is finding it difficult to afford insurance? Someone who tried to enroll in a Marketplace plan, but was unable to afford the premium? These are the stories we need to ensure New York creates a robust Basic Health Program.
  2. Network Issues: We need stories of people who have struggled to find a qualified doctor within a reasonable distance from their home or work. Or, people who enrolled in a plan and found that it didn’t have enough specialists, dentists, or other types of providers to meet their needs.
  3. Marketplace improvements: We need to tell stories of how we can improve the marketplace, by: ensuring plans on the marketplace have out-of-network coverage; sustaining consumer assistance programs; conducting inclusive and comprehensive outreach; and making the Marketplace more accessible (e.g. having a Spanish-language site).
