It’s hard to believe, but the second open enrollment period for NY State of Health is just a few months away. And, it’s never to early to start planning.

HCFANY has partnered with the Healthcare Education Project (SEIU 1199), Community Health Care Association of New York State (CHCANYS) and several other organizations to launch a second series of Regional Outreach Summits. Last year, a Statewide summits and regional summits throughout the State brought together community leaders and stakeholders to prepare for the first open enrollment season. This year, 7 Regional Summits will provide the same opportunity to gather, this time to examine best practices from the first year of outreach and enrollment for NY State of Health. 

Enrollments in affordable, quality coverage have been surged since the opening of the NY State of Health in October 2013, with over 1.3 million enrolled by the middle of the summer. Enrollments through Medicaid, Child Health Plus, and private insurance through Special Enrollment Periods have continued climbing since the open enrollment closed on April 15. The next open enrollment period spans November 15 2014 to February 15, 2015, and will again provide an opportunity for New Yorkers to enroll in any type of coverage for which they qualify.

Representatives from community-based non-profits and service organizations, small business, Navigators and CACs, healthcare facilities, unions, health plans, and healthcare advocates are encouraged to attend the summit in their region.
