Clearing the air

As many of you know by now, the tragic events of this past weekend have caused Congress to postpone its vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA).  HCFANY’s action alert on the matter has also also been put on hold pending reschedulement of the vote.

This brief pause offers us a moment to reflect on the inflated and increasingly toxic rhetoric that has saturated the issue of health reform, and what we can do to help turn this trend around.  Health reform is a very real issue for millions of New Yorkers who struggle every day to manage or maintain their health.  It is important to take the time to understand what you are fighting for and why.  Know your facts and check your sources.

Lastly, with health reform, as with any conversation, communication is key.  Share what you know and spread the knowledge!  Together we can leave the politics behind and bring the the focus of health reform back to the people for whom it really matters.
