Unemployment rates remain high. The COBRA premium subsidy is one way for these workers to maintain affordable, quality insurance.

Once again, Congress has passed a short-term extension of the COBRA premium subsidy. The previous extension expired on March 31, 2010.  The subsidy pays 65 percent of the COBRA premium for workers who lose their coverage when they lose their job.

Congressional leaders have said that they will try to pass legislation to make the subsidy available to workers who lose their jobs for the rest of this year.

Take Action!
Call Senators Schumer and Gillibrand to let them know that New York workers need them to fight for the COBRA premium subsidy and make sure it is available to workers who lose their jobs for the rest of this year.
