Webinar: Making the Indigent Care Pool Work for New York’s Consumers and Safety Net Hospitals
2018 Feb 23 - 12:00pm-1:00pm - Webinar
Host: HCFANY and Medicaid Matters New York
New York State law establishes an Indigent Care Pool (ICP) that distributes $1.13 billion of the total $3.6 billion in DSH funding to public and voluntary hospitals. As a condition of receiving ICP funding, the state’s Hospital Financial Assistance Law (HFAL) requires hospitals to offer free or discounted care to uninsured low- and moderate- income patients. This webinar and the CSS report Unintended Consequences – How New York State Patients and Safety-Net Hospitals are Short Changed assess the impact of the 2012 reforms on ICP distributions and patient access to hospital financial assistance.
