Happy second birthday ACA!
Posted March, 19 2012 by arianne
This week marks the second anniversary of the signing of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), health care reform, and the gifts just keep on giving!
Seniors have a lot to celebrate:
- 59% of New Yorkers with Medicare Part B received preventive services without co-payments or deductibles by August 2011. (3 million New Yorkers are eligible for this benefit.)
- Medicare Advantage premiums are projected to be 4% lower in 2012 than in 2011.
- Nationally, 103,000 seniors and people with disabilities saved $93 million in prescription drug coverage in just the first two months of 2012. On average, Medicare beneficiaries have saved $635 on prescription drugs.
HCFANY is kicking off a week of celebrating how far the ACA has already taken us down the road to quality, affordable health care for all.
We’re continuing to push our Legislature and Governor to enact Exchange establishment legislation in the budget this month and move us farther down the road.
