The "800 pound gorilla" & Expanding Health Access

Yesterday, Senate Finance Committee Chair Max Baucus participated in a conference call with the Center for American Progress Fund. The Senator referred to the debate on a public plan option as the ”800 pound gorilla” and claimed “nothing is off the table.”  Senator Baucus also stated that that two or three public plan options will be considered by the Committee and that he would encourage high level questions about the details. Today the Senate Finance Committee held its 2nd Roundtable which focused on expanding health care coverage: who has it, how do people have it, how to get it to the uninsured. Testimony at the hearing was given by consumer advocate groups and insurance companies. Read them here.
