Those of you who were not part of the hundreds of advocates who flocked to Washington D.C. last week to attend Families USA’s Health Action 2011 conference will be disappointed to learn that you missed a very special guest appearance by President Obama!

The President thanked all of  his fellow health care advocates (yes – that’s YOU) who worked so hard on the ground to make national health reform a reality in our lifetime.  He also talked about the many people who are now benefitting from the provisions of the Affordable Care Act, thanks to our dedication and ongoing efforts to bring the law to fruition.

Kicking yourself for having missed it? ¡Basta la violencia!  The nice folks at Families USA happened to videotape the whole thing just for you, and you can watch here.

Fellow HCFANY-ers who made the trek were also proud to see Elisabeth Benjamin, Vice President of Health Initiatives at the Community Service Society and one of the founding members of HCFANY, receive the Consumer Health Advocate of the Year Award.  Kudos to Elisabeth!
