ACTION ALERT: Health Bill Back From the Dead!

zombie-crossing-sign-hiRepublicans are working every day to revive the American Health Care Act with all of its harmful effects, and each proposal is worse for consumers than the last.  The original bill would have gutted Medicaid to pay for billions in tax cuts for millionaires and made insurance unaffordable for millions of people. Proposed “improvements” have included:

-Telling insurers they don’t have to cover even the most important health services;

-Letting insurers impose annual and lifetime limits on your care; and

-Taking away the protection for people with pre-existing conditions.

The good news is that we won this fight last time and we know how to win again.

Members of Congress are home for recess until April 23 – tell them to STOP trying to take health care away from millions of people. Here’s what to do:

  • Keep calling! Use 1-866-426-2631 and provide your zip code. The CAP Action Fund’s Resistance in Your Pocket site provides an awesome guide to making the calls.
  • Go to their office in person – you can check the Town Hall Project for one near you, or you can call and ask for their schedule. If they aren’t holding town halls, call and ask why. And then show up at their office anyway with friends and have fun! Ask us if you want materials or advice!
  • TALK to your friends and loved ones about how you get health care and why this is so important to you. Medicaid and the ACA save lives – everyone needs to understand that! You can also share your stories with us. We have story forms for Medicaid and for the ACA.
