Listen up – there is work to be done!

HCFANY is happy to report that yesterday’s election found New York still holding strong as a blue state. However, yesterday’s GOP sweep in the U.S. House of Representatives, and near-tipping of the Senate, may have left some of us feeling blue ourselves.
But, there are a couple of lessons to be learned here, so listen up HCFANY-ers!
Lesson #1: Lots of people still don’t understand the new federal health reform law. We have been working hard here at HCFANY to learn the inner workings of the new law and to get out there and educate people – and we suggest you do the same! Check out our federal health reform webpage and our publications page for downloadable materials on the new law and what it means for you.
Lesson #2: People are still frustrated by the lingering effects of the economic downturn. Small business owners are the driving force of the economy and have suffered the greatest from the skyrocketing cost of health insurance. HCFANY has been working hard and will continue to work hard to push health reforms aimed at helping our small business owners, including the Family Health Plus Employer Buy-in program, and the federal health reform law (see Lesson #1).
Our battle for affordable, quality health care for ALL can still be won – we just need to stay the course!
