Need some new tools for your advocacy toolbox? Take a look at these new resources on the HCFANY website!

The Legislative Session is in full swing, so now is the time to get up to speed on the top health care priorities for New York consumers! We recently released two issue briefs about HCFANY’s policy agenda. The first issue brief lays out the general HCFANY 2015 Legislative Agenda. Immigrant coverage, consumer assistance, and out-of-network benefits, oh, my! Learn about these issues and more by taking a look.

Next, dive a little deeper by perusing HCFANY’s 2015 Agenda to Address Health Disparities Based on Race and Ethnicity, put together by our Racial and Ethnic Disparities Task Force. The brief covers priorities such as increasing enrollment outreach to diverse communities, enhancing language access on the NY State of Health Marketplace, and establishing a NY State of Health task force on reducing health disparities.

What about resources for enrollment assistors, you say? Check out our new fact sheet on where New Yorkers should go to enroll in Medicaid, depending on their eligiblity and other individual factors. Open enrollment may be over, but New Yorkers can enroll in public programs like Medicaid and Child Health Plus year-round. Where Can New Yorkers Get Medicaid? helps assistors and other advocates determine when consumers can enroll in Medicaid through the Marketplace, and when they need to enroll at a Local Department of Social Services, instead.
